Career Navigators have a challenging, multi-faceted role in adult education programs. It is a role that encompasses a wide variety of services that range from assessment to education and career planning to coordinating supports and case management. Ultimately, a Navigator is an education and career specialist who assists, coaches, and empowers students to develop and pursue post-secondary and career pathway goals. The services provided by Career Navigators increase the likelihood of students persisting, successfully earning a industry recognized credential and ultimately advancing in a career.
The Career Navigator Professional Development Series aims to build proficiency in key competency areas and strengthen skills needed to assist students to succeed in their academic and career pursuits. These ten identified competency areas are relevant for anyone providing career and academic coaching, counseling or advising to students and are the framework for the professional development series.

After meeting the requirements of each course in this program, participants may be eligible to receive hours of Continuing Education (SCECH) Credits that will fulfill the state licensure requirement for either teachers or counselors. See indivudal courses for more information regarding SCECH hours.
