Full course description
There are three core lessons in this course:
- Key Concepts for Teaching Math to ESOL Learners
- Operation Sense with Whole Numbers
- Integrating All Skills
Each lesson includes the following:
- an introduction to the topic and a look at the conceptual underpinnings related to the math
- a look at how the topic is dealt with in other cultures
- opportunities to try out the new concepts
- development of vocabulary as it relates to math topics
- contextual application
- teaching strategies for ESOL
- a list of resources for teachers for further exploration of related math topics
The estimated time to complete course is about 6 hours, depending on your pace and style of learning.
