There are three core lessons in this course: 

  • Key Concepts for Teaching Math to ESOL Learners
  • Operation Sense with Whole Numbers
  • Integrating All Skills

Each lesson includes the following: 

  • an introduction to the topic and a look at the conceptual underpinnings related to the math
  • a look at how the topic is dealt with in other cultures
  • opportunities to try out the new concepts
  • development of vocabulary as it relates to math topics
  • contextual application
  • teaching strategies for ESOL
  • a list of resources for teachers for further exploration of related math topics

 

The estimated time to complete course is about 6 hours, depending on your pace and style of learning.
